Gohar Rasheed wins the IPPA Awards 2017

The versatile actor Gohar Rasheed won the International Pakistan Prestige Awards (IPPA) 2017 held on Sunday, 17th September 2017 for Best Supporting Actor TV Play (viewer choice award) for his amazing performance as Meekail in Mann Mayal.

The second IPPA Awards was a star-studded event this year as celebrities gathered in London for the prestigious awards for their own nominations or to support their peers.

Gohar was over-whelmed while receiving the award, he stated, “This would have not been possible without some people – especially my friend Sana Shahnawaz – who trusted me completely at a time when all the chips were down. Also, I would like to thank Haseeb Hassan, Samira Fazal, Sultana Apa and Momina Bhabhi for Mann Mayal and my co-stars, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ayesha Khan and Maya Ali.”

There was some tough competition for Gohar as many talented actors nominated for this category. The nominations included Imran Ashraf for Dillagi, Malik Raza from Besharam, Farhan Saeed for Udaari, Saleem Miraj for Mann Mayal, Firdous Jamal for Khuda aur Mohabbat, and Ali Abbas for Tum Koun Piya.

He is best known for his work in the internationally acclaimed movie Seedlings, for which he was nominated as Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2012 New York Film Festival and at the 1st ARY Film Awards in the same category. He was also nominated as Best Actor at the 13th Lux Style Awards.
